Words that are spelled the same but pronounced differently are called *heteronyms*. (Or homographs - but homographs do not necessarilly need to be pronounced differently - the words just mean different things)

Thankyou, good grid, and Red Salamander! They are terms we often confuse, I think.

Good grid but just a small thing, lower case 'm' in Rain man was really distracting - I kept thinking was it there on purpose? Bit annoying

Rain man needs capital M
How can 'house' be pronounced in two different ways? Maybe it's an accent thing, but in Scotland it can only be pronounced one way - if you have in mind a pronunciation that involves a 'z' sound, that's a bit tenuous for me.

Paulo. The difference as far as I am aware is that when house is used as a noun you pronounce the so to thyme with mouse but at a verb the is sounded as a z. Mind you there was a song about a mouse which went Hoots Mon there's a moose loose aboot this hoose.
