I thought this was a great grid, but one line was rather cheeky, and I found two of them tricky.

Never once heard Hampton in that context and Mr Rose's name is spelled "Axl".

Sorry guys about the confusion with Axel Rose, Axl Rose...
I was thinking of Mr (Axel) Rose who used to live two doors down from me when I was a teenager, easily confused with the rock icon Axl Rose I agree. Nevertheless the grid conforms to the answers regardless of who the name is intended to be.
(I also could have used Axl and stated Ax as the weapon.)
