Quack can be in reference to bogus doctors, Clap can be slang for venereal diseases, crash can relate to drops in stock prices etc.

Nothing wrong with the odd onomatopoeia IMHO (and certainly nothing wrong with ambiguity!).

Not quite accurate. Crash means more than the sound it makes - it also means to bump into something as in car crash, or when things fail ie financial crash, quack as in bogus doctor. Clap is also a slang name for a sexually transmitted disease.
