Good one! Esio Trot was the one that got me... I got the roald dahl connection but couldn't get the group in time.

A cracker, Mr Tom. A mall stood out for me as that had to be a wordplay connection and that was what got me started. Superb red herrings and false trails but I managed to crack it. James Bond films would probably be my specialist subject on Mastermind and that knowledge helped me avoid the pitfalls. Marvellous puzzle, Sir!
