"One" and "won" are not homophones in Berkshire at least. "One" rhymes with "gone", while "won" rhymes with "gun".

Very nice, classic grid. And those homophones are fine, because (1) they don't have to perfect in all accents, and (won) they're pronounced the same in standard BBC English, for instance by Victoria Coren-Mitchell.

Liked this. No expertise needed but tricky nonetheless. And doable! So many grids get rated as hard or fiendish. It's nice to see a solid medium -level one.

A great fun grid - "eat" wasn't accepted as an answer for the "Ate" group, but other than that a fine challenge. As someone who has come a cropper with using homophones in grids in the past, I think conversations over whether something is/isn't a homophone in certain accents aren't particularly helpful or positive. If you didn't spot it this time because of that, just chalk it up as a minor flaw, leave some constructive feedback and move on. Anyway, thanks very much Stan Lee - very enjoyable!

I'm from Berkshire and "One" and "won" are definitively homophones.
Maybe you're from Slough. Where the friendly bombs may fall.

Good grid, which I enjoyed. Nice to see common words of other languages appearing and NEIN as well. However MANGÉ is a
past participle or part of the passé composé. Simple past or past historic, as we older linguists called it, would be (je) MANGEAI. Aß is the simple past in (written) German, technically the imperfect used to mean I was eating in spoken German.
Keep them coming.
