Since I assume I’m in the company of many fellow pedants and trivia enthusiasts I will add that I was so surprised to see ‘lingua franca’ was in the Italian group that I looked it up. Apparently the language it’s in is in fact called Lingua Franca! This language from around the Levant was the origin of the term ‘lingua franca’, with lingua being derived from Italian and Portuguese, while franca comes from Arabic and Greek. Found that rather pleasing - and it didn’t stop the grid still working well!

didn't get the groups in time, but clocked the theme. Good, innovative grid.

6/10 This was certainly a challenge. Meant in a very positive way, unique take on this game, that is much appreciated, because of not in spite of its difficulty. a clear 5 star effort.

Cheers ppl, thanks for feedback
* I think I must have played grid 15097 - and unconsciously ripped it off
* Lingua Franca being of Italian origin does look dubious
* Missing answer in german group is "Weltanschauung" (World view)
