Play online connecting walls inspired by Only Connect. Thousands of grids, with more added every day.
When it came to developing this grid I wanted to have two false categories, languages and bending arts in Avatar the last Airbender. I ended up scrapping the latter for being esoteric but you can still see remnants of it with earth and blood being there. Categories that were tabled but not chosen included Heavy ___ because I liked how it worked for both water and metal. Ultimately I chose not to include it because I couldn't sneak a language in there. Another category I was considering was White ___ with water and Russian. The last category I cut was Black ____ with water (a somewhat obscure term for liquid waste from coal or from toilet water), Russian (More obscure than White Russian), light, and metal. I ultimately did not include it as Russian sausage could be included in the sausages and black blood could be argued as valid.

And despite all that attention, you still put 'Reading' on the grid twice. Oops! :-)

I thought that the 'sausage' connection was a bit weak. The term 'Italian sauasge' seems to be a North American term covering a wide variety of Italian-style sausages, and Wikipedia also tells me that the actual names of Hungarian sausage include Kolbász, Hurka or Téliszalámi. But as a Brit, I take particular exception to the idea of an 'English sausage' - you're probably refering to the humble linked pork sausage, but there are many varieties of that available, and what about the tasty Cumberland or Lincolnshire sausage? Yum.

Oh dear what a blunder..... that’s what you get when you setvin the middle of the night.... my dearest apologies. The remaining clue would have been Tangier.

I was also kind of worried about the English sausage myself but I asked a couple people and they thought it was valid. Must be a North American thing. My apologies for not looking into that either.

The cream link & the sausage link (no pun intended) are both fairly weak. No idea what 'light cream' is & English sausage has already been mentioned.
