For what it’s worth, I don’t think the pluses look bad at all and I don’t think it was a mistake to include them. Without them, those particular clues would have been even more cryptic, given that they function differently from all the others -- and I don’t think this grid needs yet another layer of complexity.

Still, even with the pluses, this was really tough for me. That might have a lot to do with my not being from – and having insufficient general knowledge of – the UK (which would presumably have made certain connections more obvious).

Is the answer to Genuine Affection correct, though? I mean, with a different synonym for “genuine”, sure…

Thanks for the comments. I’ve tried another similar one but left out the pluses. They make identifying the line too easy but I think they could either help or hinder people in making the connection.
Not sure if the new one is any easier, it’s really hard to get the level just right with this type. Would be nice to be able to allow a little extra time for finding the groups.
