I did spend a lot of time trying to make Dave Dee etc work - a nice pseudo-red herring.
However, I think Dozy and Day mares are a bit loose.
The phrase is nice, but does not really work as a grid. It is sequential. Without knowing which words contain it and in which order, there is no way anyone could possibly spot this. I did spot Berlin, and then looked for other buried cities, to no avail.

Yep, Dozy was a stretch but Day____ is a real word. The phrase was the only way I could get Tich in the grid because of the spelling. He was very inconsiderate.
