Perfect illustration of why the urge to be unnecessatily cryptic is detrimental to quality.

Just write 20, 25, 40, 60. What the clues do instead is point to a number that could be totally random or identical. All of them could be 37. They could be 1, 3, 5 and 7. They could all be pi.

What is *meant* of course is "natural number between x and y", but if you put it like that, it's obvious how contrived it is.

Just write it out. Please. The connection does not need to be super exotic on each group, and stuff like this only draws attention to simple links instead of obscuring them.

Puzzled- appreciate your view, you obviously care a lot- occasionally added encryption is a way of camouflaging an entry amongst others rather than adding a layer of difficulty. Short answers amongst long can be sore thumbs. I don't know this setter's personal reasonings, it's more a general comment, but if you try submitting your own puzzgrids you'll probably see why some things are included/ choices made due to how the site works.
