This reminded me of 'answer smash' on Richard Osman's House of Games!
I got most of the overlap words, but still found the groups hard -particularly the cake one, which was another level removed.

I wasn't sure about the cakes, difficulty wise; I sometimes like to leave an end dangling to give people a start, but have one harder group or clue left over at the end that needs a bit of mulling over, when you've got time. Battenberg was my little evil guilty pleasure. Spongebob was a big hint, though! BTW I've done a few in this style if you like it?

By googling your answers I'm expanding my knowledge....
All fair but super tough

By writing grids I'm expanding my knowledge! (I don't always get it right) :)

This was fun, my favourite style of yours. I was going to start skipping your grids because I find a lot of them too obscure, but I'm glad I didn't. Hoping you'll do more like this :)

I will do more like this BB- if you find some of the recent ones obscure-the ones woth lots of punctuation breaking words have a really simple trick to them- they're designed to look hard but be not that difficult- that is putting a lot of people off but please don't give up- Ignore the punctuation marks and look at the letters as if no caps. ONLY ONE LETTER will have moved- you can literally just read the answers! They're not tricky anagrams, they're just camouflaged. I hope that helps- I want you to enjoy these and feel proud/ satisfied when you get what looked like a tough grid- my intention is not to confuse people!
