Apologies if you don’t think this works, just thought that I’d try something different.

Hi C4. I haven't scored it because I think it would be a bit unfair of me. I'm not a fan of the 'different' types of grid. I like mine like the TV prog. Just personal taste.
However, one thing stands out - the mix of capitals and lower case - it gives one group away and also goes against the one of the few instructions on the site ie. Begin each clue with a capital letter.
So not for me I'm afraid. Hope you have more luck with other puzzlers :-)

Cheers BinDipper, I think I did the lower cased boxes as ‘a way in’ .
Quite new to doing these, maybe not aware of some of the rules.
Would you have understood where it was going if I’d put the lowercase group in capitals?

I quite liked the concept of this- unfortunately for me I didn't know some of the references so found it doubly hard to both decode and stretch knowledge. Good effort, though :)
To BinDipper- doubly grateful to you for supporting my prerogative to write weird and unconventional grids, considering you're not personally into them. Wish all had this "live and let live" paradigm! So thanks for being so decent :)

I dunno. I just ensure the first letter is a capital and then put other capitals in where they need to be eg. initial of someone's name. I avoid using all capitals unless it's an abbreviation or acronym. But that's just my take on it. People do all sorts of weird and wonderful things.

Speaking of weird and wonderful... no worries Lorna. I wish I could say I did more of yours, but I usually open them and close them in double quick time :-))
It's just each to their own tastes isn't it? Stupid to criticise or fall out over it.

Absolutely- a lot of people do this- mine tend to look harder at first glance than they are- it puts people off. I like "figure out what to do" stuff, but that's just me. I'm a fan of the programme, so I enjoy solving the more conventional ones too.
