this was fun but it had one or two factual problems

Thank you.
All ears lorna - not literally. Where have I cocked up?

I don't think a kite can be called a falcon although it didn't stop me getting that group so I'm sure it doesn't matter. The bit that confused me was Marie Celeste, as I thought it was real- I can see you gave an example of it's use in fiction, but, for example, the queen appears in the fiction "The BFG" but is not a fictional character, so I missed putting the MC in a group with fictional ships. I do want to stress that I did like this grid, it was original and fun, and I look forward to playing more of yours! Certainly not a cock up and I make plenty of mistakes myself!

Good grid. some issues maybe, I don't think Kite can comfortably fit into a group of words that's precede Falcon, as the clue suggests, as the bird is commonly called just 'Kite' rather than 'Kite Falcon'. I think its a bit underhanded to place Marie Celeste in a group of 'Fictional ships'. Maybe Orca and Flying Dutchman could be swapped which would make for a non-unique solution. (GHOST ORCA)

me and lorna pretty much wrote the same critique at the same time! apologies for the redundancy

Yeah - I should have checked the Kite Falcon thing. It does appear as a "known phrase" on Rhymezone but unless you count a type of Clarke's shoe I think that's incorrect.
Mary Celeste -real.
Marie Celeste - Conan Doyle
The Flying Dutchman - legendary ghost ship. When I looked I couldn't find Orca as a ghost ship. Apologies if it exists (though it can't because it's a ghost).

ah! thanks! so that works as quite a good red herring. I was confused about the MC, thanks for clearing that up. :)
