This one was really tough for me. I completely missed the clever anagrams and I thought the clue was related to sports teams, singulars of sport team names or something (Yankees the baseball team, Canucks the hockey team, the rest I had no idea about, but I'm not well informed in sports, so it sounded plausible). I've never heard someone call Australians "Kiwis" or Brits "Poms" before.
