Colombia. I was looking for 'British' to link to that. Like confusing Columbo and Colombo: very different.

I think that once you get down to the 8 countries, it's asking too much to expect the solver to guess what criteria you've used to divide them up. Is having a particular colour in their flag really a distinctive enough connection? It doesn't make me think "of course, those countries logically form a group because of that".

Welcome, unfortunately you have joined at a time where some are rating harshly rather than by quality. I notice is driving some regular grid setters away. Some just like to be critical, others rate poorly if it is too hard for them or not a topic of personal interest. Others dislike any difference or originality of style, which stifles new blood. Keep persevering! Just a hint - try not to do some oft repeated groups (ie snakes were done just recently). Good luck!
