Play online connecting walls inspired by Only Connect. Thousands of grids, with more added every day.
Some connections need to be developed further - 5th dimension is nonspecific and weak.
Lewis/Louis/Lou is also too vague.

Spoiler: Hi Puzzle man. The burden of specificity is put on the player in Only Connect (by VCM) at the end of wall grid play, which is why I'm usually more clear and detailed in the 'more info' section for those who play my own grids, at least for those connections that are more arcane, but I assumed most people would know that the 5th Dimension was a popular group from the 60s-70s, as well as an established theory of gravity/electromagnetics; 5th Disease is a common childhood illness (aka Parvo or Slapped Cheek Disease); the 5th Symphony is one of the most famous of Beethoven's symphonies; and the 5th Amendment is one of the better known amendments in the U.S. Constitution. The men are all well-known Lou's. No connection depended on the spelling of their names or if they used the shortened (Lou) or full (Louis) version of their first names.

Loved it. Good job.

I think 5th could just as easily be 3rd or 4th.

So Rabbit Selecta, grid 36153 to 36111 in 7 minutes? Anything to do with you seeing an existing negative comment?

Rabbit, If I replaced any of the individual 5th clues with 3rd or 4th, the connection would be lost. Yes, I could have used ALL 3rd or 4th instead of all 5th clues (there is a 3rd or 4th dimension, amendment, symphony, and disease) - but then the connection would be the 3rd or 4th ordinal instead of 5th. So what's your criticism? You think I should have chosen a different ordinal? Well, I didn't. But how is that a constructive criticism? I used the 5th because the specific 5th examples I chose are more commonly known. For example, not many people know the 3rd amendment because it hasn't been used since the Civil War, but most Americans know about 'taking the 5th'; there is a 3rd Disease but it isn't known as 3rd Disease because it's called 'measles', whereas 5th Disease is more commonly called 5th Disease than it is called 'parvo'; and likewise with the 3rd Symphony, which is called Eroica more than it is referred to as The 3rd. We also know there are three common dimensions, but the 5th dimension is also distinguished as a pop group. If I had chosen all clues that are based on either 3rd or 4th, it would have worked, but might not have been as easy to connect in under three minutes. I hope this addresses your point but I'm not certain of what your point is.

I've noticed a lot of spiteful little comments being dropped after grid-play lately, like 'too vague' or 'done before' or 'weak'. Whether they are from different people or one person using different names, comments like these are often vague, weak, and overdone themselves, and certainly not constructive. Be mindful of the rules, Players. Criticisms should be constructive only. If you aren't articulate enough to leave constructive criticism, confine your outrage and disappointment to the rating system. Complimentary comments, on the other hand, are always welcome. :)

Agreed, Jaxis.

Rabbit Selecta
My point is that an answer of 3rd or 4th for those groups would be equally valid.

Rabbit, I've amended the linking terms to accommodate your concerns.
Thanks for your input. :)

No one would associate 3rd or 4th with 'disease'. The connection I made before reading these comments was the one you intended. Despite your critic, this is a great grid. Enjoyed it very much. Thx.

Oh just ignore the critics.
Those who can't create, criticize.

This was very fun! I noticed that "first" was also an accepted answer instead of "fifth", which works because "first disease" is a synonym (albeit archaic) for measles, and does work for every other clue in that group. I'd go so far as to say "words that can be preceded by an ordinal word (such as first, second, etc)" is the broadest category for them, because second disease, third disease etc is also a thing, right up to the seventh disease! This was a lot of fun, thank you!

Hi Lottie. Yes, as I previously stated, I amended the linking terms for anyone who still refers to measles as First Disease, or for whom the 1st symphony of anyone is the first to come to mind, etc. Glad you liked it.
