The poor quality of the answers spoils what would have been a nice, easy grid. It would have been more effective to have as answers just "Essex", "Cluedo", "currencies", "Only fools".

The US version of Cluedo (called Clue in the US) has always called it knife instead of the UK's dagger, but I'd never heard of dumbbell as a weapon. It turns out that's a weapon in "Clue: Discover the Secrets", an offshoot game introduced in 2008 with major deviations from the original game. The original game continues to be sold as Clue in the US.

To explain to Bestmate. What you see are not the answers but explanations. The acceptable answers are hidden from view. Often inexperienced setters can't navigate through the rules for setting answers. As a result they sometimes accept any answer at all , and sometimes virtually no answer will be accepted.
