Discuss? I think you meant discus

Sackman
There are too many words that can be substituted into other categories. A screwdriver is both a tool and a drink. Hammer, which I guess is supposed to be hammer throw, is both an olympic event and a tool. Also, a gimlet is both a drink and a type of tool. So these three could have been switched around so that all of the categories still had correct answers while having a completely different set of answers.

4 things:

1. Discus has only 2 Ss.
2. Words should be capitalized per site admin's request
3. Ditto Sackman - Gimlet and Screwdriver are swappable. I believe that Hammer is safe. This 'breaks' the game.
4. Not a terrible effort! I enjoyed it as an easy puzzle :)

If only I could edit my grid. I did not realize that gimlet was also a tool, I clearly misspelled 'discus' and I did not know about the capitalization rule.

The crossover between tools and drinks, with screwdriver, was good, if intentional. Although now that I am reading others comments, it was apparently annoying. I liked it because it made an otherwise simple puzzle somewhat more difficult. I guess same with hammer, as a tool or olympic event. What would make this a "puzzle" if there weren't crossover? Obviously accuracy is good, but when my brain is in solve puzzle mode, it fills in the blanks, I did not even notice the discus misspell, because my brain was already looking for olympic events.

Rossi - crossover, by itself, is typically great. You want a puzzle (especially a tricky one) to have items that could fit in multiple categories. However, there needs to be one unique solution. That is, there should be only one way to sort the 16 tiles into four bins of four. In this case, the Screwdriver and Gimlet tiles can be swapped, as they each fit both the Tools and Drinks bins.

In general, you don't want a chain of items that can all be sswitched to the next one. For example, if tile 1 fits in bins A and B, 2 in B and C, and 3 in C and A, then we have an issue, because there are two solutions - one with 1 in A, and the other with 1 in B.

When it comes down to logic, it's fun. When it's merely guessing (especially if you're down to 2 bins remaining), it's hardly fun at all, as you feel like you're missing something.

I have read all the below comments and I would just like to say that I finished the grid quite quickly. The red herrings are surely part of the game. Thank you.

The track and field event is the discus. Discuss means to talk about a subject.

1. "discuss"???
2. A city is a kind of town. We say: "London town".
Rather poor.

The spelling of discus was wrong which caused initial confusion

I scrolled, and now I feel bad about my earlier statement: you already learned of your mistake like nine years ago. I'm over my rage. Please go in peace, ronpadz; the drinks/tools thing was fun.

made harder because "discuss" is mispelled. It should be "discus".
"Discuss" is a verb, to talk

discus is spelled incorrectly

Great puzzle! One edit needed - the track and field event is spelled "discus", not "discuss" as in your puzzle.

I loved the overlaps which made for a trickier puzzle. Surprised at all the complaints. I enjoyed it and the lower-case letters and misspelling of discus did not detract.
