The compound words line is a bit unfair as there are so many e.g. office and herring so too many possible combinations. I hadn't heard of a couple of the boxes so I've learned something and I. enjoyed having a go.

The fact that it may broken down into 'on' and 'ion' does not (IMHO) make 'onion' a compound word.

Don't think onion and haddock are "compound words" but good besides that.

Onion and haddock aren't compound words. A compound word is made by combining at least two words, it doesn't just mean the word has two or more syllables. Beetroot and onion should have been swapped between the two groups, as beetroot actually is a compound word, and onions can be pickled. Another actual compund word should be in the grid instead of haddock.
