Animal plural was a tame answer. Many people keep those as PETS. I doubt many have heard of Cliff Burton, and the "linked to a third" was weak, in my opinion - third reich, third man, even simply a third, fine, but then it's not third Richard, it's Richard the Third, which starts twisting the whole thing.
