I didn't think the song was the same each episode but I may be wrong.
Have you ever noticed the tune, possibly Sumer is Icumen In, is the same one they sing as the policeman is about to be burnt in The Wicker Man.

Bit too niche for my taste. Isn't Hugo more of a novelist than a poet? Maybe Verlaine or Villon might have been a more guessable option.
