Cretin and Cretan are pronounced differently, plus Cretan isn't a nationality. Maybe replace with Fin?

But Cretan? I guess in some heavy American drawl cretin might be pronounced cretan- but it’s tenuous and in any case it’s not a nationality. Crete is part of Greece.

Pronunciation-wise, cretin can be cree-tin or creh-tin so it works but may be tough for universal use. As pointed out, it isn't a nationality but it is a demonym.

Think the use of wishing is tough as it is not as common a usage as falling.
