I don’t think homonyms is strictly correct - that means two words that sound the same but are spelled differently with different meanings - letters of the alphabet are not strictly words in that sense just single letters ( and yes they do have spellings too but in this context that seems a stretch) They are more accurately Homophones ( which was accepted)

It might accept vegetable but not veg. ( which I’m happy to take on the chin as I was just being lazy!)
